File names and folders for Instagram downloads
Naming presets, folder structure, caption and date tokens, and JPEG publish dates.
Good names are the difference between an archive and a pile. Master Instagram Downloader names and sorts files as it saves them, so you never rename by hand.
Open the naming settings
- Click the Master Instagram Downloader icon in Chrome to open the popup.
- Open Naming & Folder Rules.
- Pick a naming preset and a folder structure preset (for example By Publish Date). Changes auto-save.

- Published date and Saved date
- Post title or caption
- Tagged location name

Free vs Pro
- Free: use and switch between the built-in naming and folder presets.
- Pro: edit the rules, drag parts into your own order, and build folders such as
client/year/month. - Pro: JPEG publication-date metadata. The original Instagram publish date is written into each JPEG, so Photos, Lightroom, and Finder sort by when it was posted, not when you downloaded it.
